Wests Illawarra is proud to be associated with the following charity events.

Cancer Council

At Wests Illawarra we care about being involved with our local community and as an organisation we do this best by supporting various charities in need. One of the main aid organisations that we are involved with is the Cancer Council. 

The Cancer Council is Australia s peak national non-government cancer control organisations as one of their main roles is to advise the government and other bodies on practices and policies to help prevent, detect and treat cancer. They also advocate for the rights of cancer patients in terms of acquiring the best treatments and supportive care.

The Cancer Council holds 5 fund-raisers annually and here at Wests we are involved in supporting and advocating 4 of them, such events include:

• Australia s Biggest Morning Tea: Each year Wests Illawarra holds their own Morning Tea for club members. Cakes and coffees are served while donations are collected to support this Cancer Council Event.

• Daffodil Day & Pink Ribbon Day: Wests Illawarra proudly sold merchandise through the club to support the cancer council. Although Pink Ribbon Day has yet to occur this year we have already raised over $150 through Daffodil Day products sold. We hope to increase this figure when Pink Ribbon Day merchandise becomes available later this month.

• Relay for Life: this event is one that has caught Wests attention for the good it does throughout the community and Australia wide with relays being held in every state. This year Wests has contributed $5000 towards the event and is proud to announce that this year the children s festivities will be held in the Wests Illawarra Kids Corner.
