Community Strong

TOGETHER, WE ARE COMMUNITY STRONG

At Wests Illawarra, we believe that the strength of a community is measured by how we support one another. That’s why we created Community Strong – a movement dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of those in the Illawarra.

Through funding, in-kind support, and volunteering, we proudly stand beside local charities, community groups, and sporting clubs to foster a more connected and supported region. That’s because we believe that a strong community is built on connection, compassion, and support.

At Wests Illawarra, we don’t just support the community – we are part of it.

community strong: our impact

Our commitment to the community is reflected in the investment we choose to make. Through financial assistance, in-kind support, and active volunteering, we have formed meaningful partnerships that address critical community needs, from crisis intervention and healthcare accessibility to supporting smaller community groups who reply entirely on support from organisations like ours.

who we support

Our Community Strong initiative proudly partners with local charities and community groups making a difference and playing a vital role in our community. We are honoured to support their incredible work.

COMMUNITY FEEDBACK

Hearing first-hand how our contributions make a difference fuels our commitment to do more and inspires us to continue growing Community Strong and its impact across the Illawarra.

Heart of the Nation CEO, Greg Page

“Thanks to Wests Illawarra’s support, we have been able to strengthen the Illawarra community’s ability to respond to cardiac arrest. The presence of an AED during a cardiac event can make all the difference, and this partnership ensures these devices are where they’re most needed.”

Frame Running Wollongong, Director, Renee Jurgielan

“Without funding from Wests Illawarra, we wouldn’t be able to expand our fleet of frame runners. Their support has created a warm, welcoming community where every child belongs.”

Escabags CEO, Stacy Jane

“Without Wests Illawarra’s support, providing this essential service would be impossible.”

Lifeline South Coast CEO, Renee Green

“Without continued support from Wests Illawarra, we would sadly need to reduce the amount of suicide prevention and crisis support services provided to our community.”

Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre Coordinator, Cath Daley

“When we’re in crisis and run out of food, Wests Illawarra always steps up. They’ve never said no to helping us, and we simply couldn’t do what we do without them.”

Supertee Founder and CEO, Jason Sotiris

“We’re so thankful to Wests Illawarra for their support. To be able to provide the funding for us to give these to families is so important.”
