Fostering the future of sport, one junior at a time
Wests Illawarra knows that every big sporting dream starts small – often with a junior jersey, a local pool or muddy field, and a whole lot of community spirit. That’s why we invest in grassroots sport across the Illawarra, making sure every child who wants to play has the chance to not only participate but thrive.
As part of our Community Strong initiative, Wests Illawarra proudly supports 16 local sporting clubs, including rugby league, cricket, netball, hockey and swimming. In 2024 alone, we contributed $490,000 in funding to keep community sport strong and accessible, especially for our youngest community members.
This support delivers real outcomes. From local ovals and pools to state championships and pathways to professional careers, Wests is helping young people stay active, connected, and confident, with many now proudly representing the Illawarra at the highest levels of their sport.
For Wests, junior sport isn’t just about the game. It’s where resilience is built, life lessons are learned and lifelong friendships begin. To us, that’s Community Strong.
