THE BIG RACE
The Gong is considered the biggest and most prestigious horse race in the Illawarra region. And in 2025, the race will run on Saturday 22nd November at Kembla Grange Racecourse.

This Calcutta event takes place the Friday night before the race, on Friday 21st November 2025!

– No need to register! This event is free – simply join us at 6:30pm on Friday 21st November
– Please note: seating is first in, first served.
– Wilbur, our 32-inch reverse offset smoker, will be fired up and serving authentic American BBQ flavours
SUPPORTING LOCAL
– 10% of the prize pool will be donated to Wests Devils U16s player, Madeleine Ceccato
– Madeleine suffered a serious neck and head injury while playing for the NSW CCC side, resulting in a vertebral arterial dissection, causing a blood clot and stroke. After multiple surgeries and a long hospital stay, she is now continuing her recovery as an outpatient in the Illawarra Brain Injury Service and at Sydney Children’s Hospital. She remains positive and is very grateful to be home with family and friends, but still has a long road ahead
– Madeleine and her family are deeply grateful for all the love and support shown to her, which has been a tremendous motivator in her determination to make as best as possible a recovery and return to some normality in her life
