In November 2024, Wests Illawarra proudly hosted a Food Drive. Designed to help the local community in three ways, this initiative was a great success – enabling the Wests Illawarra team to support local community members heading into the festive season.
Wests Illawarra dedicated efforts to offering much-needed relief and support to families and local businesses leading up to the holiday period, with this three-pronged approach:
- Wests Illawarra purchased $3,000 worth of groceries and essential household items that were donated to four local charities & organisations:
• Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre,
• Wollongong Homeless Hub,
• Unanderra Community Centre,
• Farmborough Road Primary School for their respective Food Drives - Wests Illawarra club members could win grocery gift cards to help fund their own grocery bill. $6,400 worth of vouchers were given to club members
- Wests Illawarra purchased vouchers from local businesses including B&G Family Meats in Unanderra and Country Grocer in Unanderra & Warrawong, as part of the member giveaways
We think it’s vital to support our local community members, particularly during a time when many feel the pressure of rising living costs.
At Wests Illawarra, supporting the local community is a core value that guides what we do. That commitment led to the launch of Community Strong – a campaign dedicated to fostering meaningful partnerships and delivering positive outcomes across our region.
