Vinnies CEO Sleepout

Wests Illawarra CEO Mr Daniel Munk is a long-term participant and supporter of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, has raised a cumulative total of over $60,000 over the past three years.

For the past two years, Wests Illawarra and The Flagstaff Group have worked towards a combined fundraising effort which includes a Morning Tea Fundraiser at The Craft Cafe, Wests Illawarra and Pippi's Cafe, and a staff family and friends movie fundraiser.

Members of Wests Illawarra also contributed through donation tins throughout the club and a Bingo Morning Tea Fundraiser.

Wests Illawarra continues to support the ongoing initiatives of the St Vincent de Paul Society. In addition to the CEO Sleepout, Wests Illawarra have funded the Vinnies Home Starter Packs since 2014, helping displaced individuals and families establish themselves in a new home. Wests also participate in the Vinnies bi-monthly food van.

“Our organisation has been supporting the important work of Vinnies since 2014. In that time our team has had the opportunity to regularly work in the Vinnies food van. The appreciation and feedback from our staff who have completed shifts in the food van has been amazing, giving them an even greater awareness of the need in the suburbs that they reside in.” - Daniel Munk

Vinnies Van

Danny’s volunteer work with St Vincent De Paul is supported and extended by the Aster Group’s employees, who hold a regular bi-monthly volunteer time slot with the Vinnies Food Van.

Home Starter Packs

Wests Illawarra provided $25,000 towards the Home Starter Pack program. This program provides home starter packs for disadvantaged people who have been placed in emergency housing.

The recipients are generally in a crisis situation and either have no personal items or no money with which to purchase them. The packs vary according to specific needs, but include basic items like electric jugs and toasters, crockery, cutlery, linen and baby essentials if children are involved.

Feedback from St Vincent de Paul and their clients is overwhelmingly positive, with recipients indicating that this makes a significant difference in their lives and allows them to commence their accommodation and new life without additional
stress and financial burden.
