WESTS ILLAWARRA AWARDED AT GLOBAL REGULATING THE GAME EVENING

Wests Illawarra has been recognised on the international stage, with two senior leaders winning prestigious honours at the Regulating the Game Global Awards, a highly competitive program recognising the best regulatory, compliance and responsible gaming leadership across the global gaming sector.

Chief Executive Officer Danny Munk received the Leadership Voice Award, while Dominic Monti, Strategic Leader – Customer Experience, was awarded Compliance Excellence at the Regulating the Game conference and gala dinner.

Adding to the club’s strong representation, Customer Care Manager Tori Oberg was also named a finalist in the Emerging Leader category, highlighting the depth of governance and responsible gaming leadership within the Wests Illawarra team.

The awards recognise individuals and organisations demonstrating exceptional leadership, innovation and impact in responsible gaming, compliance, governance and regulatory practice worldwide. The strength of this year’s finalists made for a highly competitive field, with eventual winners emerging from an exceptionally strong peer field.

Mr Munk was recognised for driving significant governance and cultural reform at Wests Illawarra, positioning the organisation ahead of regulatory requirements while strengthening community trust.

Mr Munk said the recognition reflected the collective effort of the organisation.

“At the Regulating the Game Gala dinner, Tori Oberg, Dominic Monti and I had the privilege of representing the team at Wests Illawarra in three separate categories,” Mr Munk said.

“This was a great privilege not only for the recognition of what our organisation does, but it highlights the values journey our culture delivers.

“Wests Illawarra focuses on people before profit, so responsible gaming and good governance are integral to who we are. This is from the Board down and throughout our teams.

“These nominations and awards reflect our ongoing community focus, and our journey in these areas will continue and constantly improve.”

Mr Monti’s award recognised his work transforming Wests Illawarra’s operational approach to compliance and responsible gaming by embedding risk management and responsible gambling practices into everyday operations.

He has led a significant uplift in responsible gambling engagement across the club, including introducing new governance and risk frameworks, and overseeing major investment in compliance capability.

Mr Monti said the award reflected the culture across the organisation.“I’m honoured and humbled to receive this award on behalf of the team at Wests Illawarra,” Mr Monti said.

“For us, doing the right thing isn’t just about meeting regulatory requirements; it’s about building a culture where integrity, accountability and compliance are part of how we operate every day.

“Our focus is on continually improving and ensuring responsible gaming and compliance are embedded in everything we do.”

Mr Munk said it was also pleasing to see emerging leaders recognised, with Ms Oberg acknowledged as a finalist for her work professionalising customer care and responsible gambling practices, including strengthening frontline staff capability.

He said the recognition highlighted Wests Illawarra’s commitment to governance, responsible gaming and community trust.

“These awards recognise the best of the best across the global sector, so it is incredibly rewarding to see the work happening here in the Illawarra recognised on that stage,” he said.
